Meet Karl
Photography has always been a way for Karl to engage with the world — but it was working with people in front of the lens that made everything click. After exploring various styles and subjects, he found his calling in portrait work: the challenge of putting someone at ease, drawing out their confidence, and capturing something genuinely authentic in a single frame.
Today, Karl works with an even mix of individual professionals and corporate clients across Charleston — from executives and creatives to full teams in need of consistent, polished imagery. Every session reflects the same commitment: to deliver images that feel true to who you are, and powerful enough to make a lasting impression.
The Experience
Having your photo taken can feel intimidating. Karl gets that. His approach is calm, intentional, and built around making you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in — because the best images come from people who feel like themselves, not people performing for a camera.
Every session includes expert coaching and direction, real-time image review, and professional retouching — so you leave confident in what you’ve got, and ready to put it to work.
A note on terminology: some photographers use “headshot” and “portrait” interchangeably. At Banyan, headshots and editorial portraits are distinct services — each with its own session structure and pricing.
Banyan Headshots + Portraits is a division of Banyan Media, and is a Professional Photographers of America (PPA) member studio and a certified Small Business Enterprise with both the City of Charleston and Charleston County.
The Studio
Banyan is located just south of Park Circle in North Charleston, minutes from Downtown Charleston’s Upper Peninsula. For select clients, Karl also offers premium on-location sessions — bringing the studio experience directly to you.
